	:: MISSION ::
	Located on the outskirts of Frelighsburg, Camp Garagona was founded in 1969. It is a camp for the mentally disabled, young and old alike. It was founded by Reverend John Peacock, together with hockey legend Doug Harvey, and the participation of many Frelighsburg residents.						The Association Garagona is a non-profit organization financed mainly by the registration fees of our campers, some government subsidies, and charitable donations by businesses, foundations, and individuals. It should be noted that most of our users are underprivileged financially.

The camp’s mission since its creation 35 years ago has always been to offer stimulating and rewarding vacation time to children and adults so as to give parents and foster parents some well deserved respite.

In the past three years, the camp has taken on a more specific orientation, namely the Arts (crafts, dance, music, and theatre). The artistic programming enables every one to attain self-expression and self-fulfilment without the usual language barriers.

With their works of art being exhibited in different venues and the variety show at the end of their camp, the campers gain self-confidence and return home with knowledge that will serve them their entire life. We are the only camp in Québec specialized in arts for the intellectually disabled.
